Well, we can not believe it or thank all our supporters enough, but our campaign passed $30,000! It was quite a month, but together we all pooled together our resources, hit up our phone tree, and met a lofty goal. It has taken a collective effort these last twenty years to keep our programs running in schools and streets from East Oakland out to Fremont, Albany, to Livermore.
We received donations ranging from $10 to over $1,000. These came from individuals, bike clubs, small fundraisers, small businesses, and big bike companies. Volunteers shared the campaign in their workplaces, held bike drives, and let us know their appreciation of our work. Some even rode in our bike-a-thon, covering 187 miles in one hour split ten ways and bringing in more than $5,000 in lap pledges!
If you contributed, keep an eye out for receiving an email from us regarding the donation incentives we’ll be handling this Fall. You’ll want to make time to pick up your shirt and water bottle when they are ready!
What’s next? Well, we’re designing our Drive Your Bike and Bike Club plans around the degree that schools will open this Fall. We’re still wrenching away in the Bikery, getting old bikes to new owners, and making essential repairs for the community. And more Upcycle classes are being planned. If you’d like to keep our work moving forward, you don’t have to wait for the next campaign! You can become a monthly sustainer, follow the link on our website!
